SensorWise Product Development and Engineering Process
SensorWise is a contract engineering and equipment design firm with expertise in designing and developing products for the oil and gas industry, specifically tools for the downhole environment. Through our partnership with manufacturing company Primary Sourcing and machining company Masterpiece Machine, we streamline the development of mission critical parts, increasing the cost-effectiveness of your project and reducing the product time-to-market. Every potential new project is handled on a case-by-case basis but typically the process works like this:
- Initial contact to discuss your general project need and our capabilities
- Both parties sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA)
- Comprehensive discussion of the project requirements
- SensorWise produces a project proposal
- After discussion/iterations, both parties sign a Letter-of-Understanding (LOU). Work can usually start at this point
- LOU converted into a Services Agreement; both parties sign
- Scheduled project status updates and design reviews
- Final acceptance testing of prototype(s)
- Final manufacturing documentation completed
Agreements can be structured in different ways:
- Time and materials
- Fixed price with milestone/progress payments
- Combined engineering and manufacturing “package deal”
- Long term joint development partnership
We can typically offer substantial cost and time savings with a combined engineering and manufacturing “package deal” when the customer can commit to a minimum order or give us manufacturing rights for a period of time. This arrangement greatly speeds up the time- to-market because we order long lead time parts and initiate transfer to manufacturing much earlier in the project development process. Manufacturing is provided by our sister company, Primary Sourcing. If this approach may work for you, please see the CertainSource Technology (CST) Group website for further information.
